2005 honda civic review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Big satisfaction in a small package. introductionefficient, practical, affordable, polished and pleasant to drive, if not downright fun, with a reputation for reliability: these are the honda civic's hallmarks, and nothing about the 2005 model suggests anything has changed.  measured by the hardware, little has changed on the civic for 2005. There are a couple of new paint colors and a special edition package at the high end of the line-up. On the other hand, price increases are so modest that they haven't kept pace with inflation, and the civic had significant changes inside and out for 2004.  few carmakers offer the range or diversity honda builds into the civic line. There are sedans, coupes and a hatchback, with an emphasis on either features and convenience, performance or fuel efficiency and low cost of operation. All are notable for their excellent fuel economy, free-revving engines and solid handling, including the electrically assisted hybrid. Up-level civics come with powerful vtec engines that deliver brisk acceleration. All provide superb comfort for front-seat passengers.  three specialized civics are designed specifically to minimize environmental impact and deliver better fuel economy than all but a few cars currently available. The most extreme is the hybrid sedan, which gets up to 51 mpg with help from an electric motor that never needs to be plugged in. Owning and driving a civic hybrid is just like life with a regular civic, almost. The civic hx coupe gets 44 mpg on regular unleaded. There's also a civic gx sedan that burns natural gas; honda claims it has the cleanest internal combustion engine in the world.  subtle styling changes were made for 2004 when bumpers, hoods, headlights and grilles on the coupe and sedan were redesigned to emphasize a baby-brother resemblance to the slick, smooth honda accord. The sporty si hatchback was trimmed with new head- and tail lamps. The sedans and coupes offer several engines choices and trim levels. All come standard with a five-speed manual transmission. Honda's package-pricing policy means extra equipment is geared to the trim level, with few individual options. A new special edition trim package is offered for 2005. Prices have increased a modest $150 from 2004 for all models except the si, which rises $220.  the dx sedan 13,160) and dx coupe 13,810) are the least expensive civics. The dx sedan has wind-up windows and manual locks, and it lacks such features as air conditioning and seat-height adjustment. An optional vp or value package 400) adds air conditioning, a cd player and a center console. The vp is included in the price of the standard dx coupe.  in other civic trim levels, the coupes are less expensive. The lx sedan 15,510) and lx coupe 15,310) get the 115-hp engine with more standard equipment, including air conditioning, 15-inch (rather than 14-inch) steel wheels, anti-roll bars front and rear, power-windows, a height-adjustable driver's seat, remote keyless entry and a cd player.  the civic ex sedan 17,410) and coupe 17,010) get more power from a more sophisticated 127-horsepower vtec (for variable valve timing) version of the 1. 7-liter engine. Ex also adds 15-inch aluminum wheels, body-colored power mirrors, upgraded audio with six speakers and a tilt-and-slide glass sunroof. The se is actually an option package 450) on the ex. It includes an in-dash 6-disc cd changer with an auxiliary jack for ipod-style mp3 players and satellite radio receivers. The se also adds a leather-wrapped steering wheel, rear-deck spoiler, unique alloy wheels and special badges.  the civic si 19,220) is only available as a hatchback and the hatchback is only available as the si. The si comes with a high-output 2. 0-liter vtec engine delivering 160 horsepower, sport tires and suspension and ex-grade features. It's not offered with an automatic.  three specialty civics put a particular premium on fuel efficiency. The hx 13,860) comes with dx-style amenities and a lean-burn engine that combines up to 44 mpg highway with an impressive 117 horsepower. The hybrid is equipped comparably to the ex sedan, with a five-speed manual transmission or optional cvt. The hybrid system provides up to 93 horsepower and 116 lb-ft of torque with the electric motor 'assist.' fuel economy is improved up to 30 percent compared to other civic sedans, while meeting the epa's partial zero emissions standard.  finally, the civic gx sedan 20,190) comes with 100-hp, natural gas-powered engine that requires a special fueling station for home use. The gx may have the cleanest internal combustion engine in the world, as honda claims, but it's also the most expensive and one of the least powerful civics. For 2005, the gx gets the same styling changes introduced on other civic sedans in 2004.  safety equipment includes two-stage front airbags, child seat anchors for the back seat and an emergency release lever inside the trunk, all standard. Side-impact air bags come standard on the hybrid and are optional on all models 250) and we strongly recommend getting them. Anti-lock brakes (abs) are standard on the ex, si, and hybrid, and optional on gx. We wish abs was available on all models. The civic scores well in the national highway traffic safety administration's crash. walkaroundhonda's reputation for space-efficient design holds in the civic. This small car packs its motor into a condensed engine bay, leaving more space for passengers, especially in front, without increasing exterior dimensions. We like the civic's expansive glass, compared to some small cars. We're not crazy about the lever-type door handles, though, the grab-through style is easier to use.  now familiar, the civic's basic wedge profile rises from front to rear, with a low, abbreviated prow and high, curt tail. The hood sits amazingly low. Civic's flanks are interrupted only by a single crease that dashes from the front wheel opening to the taillight; there are no body-side moldings. Windshield pillars arch into the rolled roof to meet narrow c-pillars. Bold tail lamps dominate the blunt rear panel. Overall, both the sedan and the coupe remain conservative in appearance, but contemporary in design.  for 2005, the new special edition features a prominent rear-deck spoiler, unique alloy wheels and badges that quickly distinguish it from other civics. These features follow more significant styling changes introduced last year, when most models where fitted with redesigned bumpers, grilles, hoods and lights at both ends. The changes are subtle, but suggest the total re-style given big brother accord in 2003. The family resemblance is obvious.  the same shared blood is even more obvious between the civic sedan and coupe, yet the two cars are clearly different. While they share the same wheel base and inner structure, most of their exterior panels are not interchangeable. The coupe features a more aggressive windshield rake, intended to create a sportier look, and its tail lamps light up in a signature pattern. Its huge, flat windshield is steeply raked, and its nose slopes radically downward, generating excellent aerodynamics and allowing great visibility outward. The si is slab-sided, without any sculpture in the sheet metal, though in 2004 better proportioned 16-inch wheels gave the car more character by better filling the wheel wells. Some think the si is ugly; others love it and are quick to defend it. interiorgood seats, well-designed controls and excellent outward visibility make the honda civic an easy car to operate. The windows are expansive for a car this size and the hood is low, so the passenger compartment feels airy and open. Sight lines are excellent for driving and parking. From the front seat all civics are comfortable cars; from the back seat, they are less so.  front-seat accommodations in the civic are superb for a car in this class. The sedan's seats provide excellent support, thanks to a rigid structure with fairly aggressive side bolsters. High bottom cushions make entry and exit easy, though a lack of height adjustment in the base dx limits tailoring for driver size or taste. The civic coupe's front seatbacks stretch broad and deep, with headrests that are open at the center like a doughnut. The si hatchback's front seats are best of all, offering comfort for longer trips and more aggressive bolstering for hard driving.  seat fabrics have been upgraded in recent years, and the look and feel of materials are generally very good. The civic hybrid's interior is most posh of all, with automatic climate control and a two-tone finish lacking in the high-trim ex sedan. 2004 honda civic review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Economy without sacrifice. introductionhonda's highly practical civic rolls into 2004 with a subtly but significantly new look. Bumpers, hood, headlights and grille are all new on the coupe and the sedan, emphasizing a baby-brother resemblance to the slick and smooth accord. The sporty si hatchback gets new headlamps and taillamps that update its sleek look.  honda civic is an icon. Honda sells more than 325,000 civics a year in the u. S., making it one of america's best-selling compacts. Civics are notable for their excellent fuel economy and sporty handling. Front-seat comfort is superb by any measure.  the honda civic line is composed of a family of diverse models. Coupes and sedans are available. Up-level civics come with powerful vtec engines that provide brisk acceleration. The si hatchback is the flagship performance model.  all civics are fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly, but a couple of models take these benefits to the extreme. The civic hx coupe gets 44 mpg on regular unleaded. More extreme is the civic hybrid, which gets up to 51 mpg on regular unleaded. The hybrid's gas engine is assisted by an electric motor. Unlike an electric car, the hybrid never needs to be plugged in. Owning and driving a civic hybrid is just like life with a regular civic. Sedans and coupes are available in dx, lx, and ex trim. A five-speed manual transmission is standard on all models. A new value package (vp) for the dx adds air conditioning, cd player, power locks, and center console. Lx adds air conditioning, 15-inch (rather than 14-inch) steel wheels, anti-roll bars front and rear, power-operated controls, a height-adjustable driver's seat, remote keyless entry, a cd player, and other luxury features.  civic ex models get more power from a 127-horsepower vtec version of the 1. 7-liter engine. Ex also gets 15-inch aluminum wheels, body-colored power mirrors, upgraded audio with six speakers, and a tilt-and-slide glass sunroof.  civic si is only available as a hatchback and the hatchback is only available as an si. Civic si comes with a high-output 2. 0-liter engine with i-vtec (for variable valve timing with intelligence) rated 160 horsepower. Si comes with a five-speed manual and is not available with an automatic.  prices range from $13,010 for a dx sedan to $15,160 for an lx coupe to $17,260 for an ex sedan to $19,000 for the si.  specialty civics are available as well. The hx coupe 13,710) comes with highly fuel-efficient lean-burn engine that gets up to 44 mpg and achieves an impressive 117 horsepower. Civic hx comes standard with a five-speed manual transmission, but a continuously variable automatic transmission, or cvt, is optional 1,000).  the civic hybrid represents the ultimate in environmental responsibility, using a small gas engine and a big electric motor to achieve up to 51 mpg. The hybrid 19,650) is equipped comparably to the ex sedan with a five-speed manual transmission. It's also available with a cvt automatic 20,650).  the civic gx sedan comes with natural gas-powered engine, which the government rates as a sulev, or super ultra low-emissions vehicle. It produces 100 horsepower.  options are limited. Side-impact air bags 250) are optional on all models and standard on the hybrid. Anti-lock brakes (abs) are standard on ex, si, and hybrid, optional on gx, and unavailable on other models. walkaroundthe honda civic sedan and coupe get subtle styling revisions for 2004 that give them a bolder look. Up front, the bumper, grille, engine hood, and headlights are all new. Most immediately noticeable is the new grille: the horizontal bar is gone, leaving just a blacked-out opening, framed by a character line that flows smoothly into the new hood. The opening under the grille has been re-shaped into a shark-like smile and now incorporates two downward-slashing struts. The headlights are still triangular, but stretch out more diagonally as they flow around the car's front corners. These changes are small, really, but subtly suggestive of the total re-style received last year by big brother accord. The civic's rear bumper is reshaped as well, a little crisper now than before.  unchanged is the civic's wedge-shaped profile, with a high, curt tail and low, abbreviated prow. The hood sits amazingly low. Relatively flat flanks are interrupted only by a single crease that dashes from the front wheel opening to the taillight; there are no body-side moldings. Windshield pillars arch into the rolled roof to meet the narrow c-pillars. Bold tail lamps dominate the blunt rear panel. Overall, both the sedan and the coupe remain conservative in appearance, but contemporary in design.  while they look like they're from the same family, the sedan and coupe differ in appearance. The coupe features a more aggressive windshield rake for a sportier look, and its tail lamps light up in a signature pattern. The sedan and coupe do share the same wheelbase and inner structure.  the appearance of the civic hybrid sedan is also subtly different, with a deeper spoiler under the front bumper, a small spoiler on the lip of the trunk lid, and unique, lightweight aluminum-alloy wheels.  the styling of the honda civic si hatchback seems to polarize people. Some think it's ugly; others love it and are quick to defend it. It's edgy and wedgy. The huge, flat windshield is steeply raked. The nose slopes radically downward, giving the car excellent aerodynamics and driver visibility. Its unique mesh grille is framed by huge triangular headlamps which, like those of the coupe and sedan, have been updated for 2004. The si is slab-sided, without any sculpture in the sheet metal. In the past, critics have suggested the wheels and tires do not look big enough for the bodywork, but honda has taken care of that for 2004 with new and better-proportioned 16-inch alloy wheels, and a new sill molding that suggests a slimmer profile. The si features a subtle roof spoiler and a dual tipped exhaust, and comes standard with a moonroof.  honda is known for its space-efficient design, and the civic packs its engine into a condensed engine bay, leaving more space for the interior. From the driver's seat, the civic is a comfortable car. From the back seat, it is less so. As in most hondas, the passenger compartment feels airy and open.  front-seat accommodations in the civic are superb. The sedan's front seats provide excellent support, thanks to a rigid structure with aggressive side bolsters. High seat cushions make entry and exit easy. Seat fabrics for the sedan were upgraded for the 2003 model year, and the quality of the new materials and trim is excellent. Visibility when driving or parking is excellent as the driver is surrounded by glass and looks over a very low hood line.  the interior of the hybrid is a bit more posh than even that of the ex sedan, with automatic climate control and a classy two-tone finish.  civic coupes have front seatbacks that stretch broad and deep with headrests that are open at the center like a doughnut. Front seatbelts attach to a side anchor bar that slides out of the way when someone climbs into the back seat.  the si hatchback's front seats are excellent, comfortable for long drives, and supportive for hard driving. They look and feel upscale. Alcantara-like trim adds richness to the side bolsters while red stitching accents the sporty fabric in the center. The seating position in the si is a bit strange with its big dash and sharply raked windshield, reminding us of the beetle.  rear-seat accommodations in all of the civic models are not the best. They are neither roomy nor comfortable by class standards. The rear bench is low and hard and does not support the thighs well. The toyota corolla is better on this score than the civic sedan. That said, the civic's flat floor lets rear-seat passengers spread their feet out, as there's no center tunnel to get in the way. Also, the outboard rear-seat head restraints are adjustable. But three in back is a crowd.  getting into the back seats of the two-door coupe isn't easy. The coupe's front seats cooperate for rear entry by gliding forward when the seatback tilts forward; a memory function then returns the seat to its original position. Bottom line: the civic is happiest with two people, but can haul additional passengers when called upon.  in all civics, the cockpit looks clean and efficient, with the instrument panel tucked beneath a barrel-shaped cowl. Round analog instruments include an oversized speedometer and tachometer in the center, flanked by smaller fuel and coolant gauges. In the sedan, the gauge graphics are the traditional white-on-black. In the coupe, the gauges show sil. 2009 honda accord review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Well-engineered mid-size sedans and coupes. introductionthe honda accord comes in sedan and coupe versions. Either way, the accord is big on efficiency, be it getting the most power and range from a gallon of gas with the least emissions, making the largest interior available given the exterior space it takes up, or providing the smoothest, quietest ride possible in the lightest weight. A new premium package adds more convenience bits to an lx, and ex-l models add leather and luxury features.  the honda accord competes with the toyota camry, nissan altima, ford fusion, hyundai sonata, mazda 6, saturn aura, and chevrolet malibu. The extra space offered by the current-generation accord means that shopping list might also include the nissan maxima, toyota avalon and vw passat.  the accord coupe competes directly with the nissan altima coupe. The lx sedan 20,905) comes standard with cloth upholstery, air conditioning, power mirrors and door locks, variable intermittent wipers, tilt-and-telescoping steering column and illuminated wheel-mounted controls, folding rear seats, and an mp3/wma/auxiliary input 160-watt sound system. The lx-p sedan 21,905) is an lx with a premium package that adds alloy wheels, a power driver's seat, power windows with illuminated switches, security system, and a chrome tailpipe. They also come with five-speed manual or automatic transmission 800). All three add an in-dash cd changer, an information screen controlled by a selector knob, and 17-inch alloy wheels with p225/50 all-season tires; while the two ex models also benefit from a power moonroof, heated mirrors, driver power lumbar adjustment, and premium interior accents. To this the ex coupe adds a 270-watt stereo.  the ex sedan is available with a 271 horsepower 3. 5-liter v6 and five-speed automatic 26,605). It comes with most of the same amenities as the ex-l v6 sedan, and adds 18-inch alloy wheels with 235/45r18 tires and a rear decklid spoiler.  the navigation system is packaged with bluetooth, voice-activation and steering wheel controls. Accords with this package are priced as separate models of the ex-l sedan 27,805), ex-l coupe 27,905), ex-l v6 sedan 30,905), and ex-l v6 coupe 31,155).  safety equipment is standard, with six airbags, including two-stage front airbags, dual-chamber front side airbags, side curtain airbags; active front head restraints, electronic stability control, antilock brakes with electronic brake distribution, and tire pressure monitors. walkaroundthis latest-generation honda accord stays true to its roots with contemporary yet conservative design highlighted by a strong character line that slopes down and forward like that of the acura tl. Many modern design elements are the result of auto/pedestrian collision standards and the accord is not immune, even the wiper arm mounts are designed to break away when hit.  forward lights are aptly described as hawk-like and look fiercer on coupes because they use projector headlamps as opposed to the conventional reflector design on the sedans; v6 models include fog lamps. At the rear the lamp elements appear cut off at the style line rather than extending up to the top trunk seam. This contributes a sense of heaviness and more closely mirrors the princess rear end styling of the acura rl rather than the taut crispness of the tl.  following trends, the new accord is larger than any before, and although it competes in the mid-size market segment it is by epa interpretation a large car. Virtually every dimension save width is 2-4 inches smaller outside than that of the sedan. The coupe is sleeker yet still fits the accord mold. Stepping up to an ex-l with leather adds features, but the basics like seat design and driver ergonomics are shared by all accords.  the tilt-and-telescoping steering column provides a good range of adjustment to complement those available on the seat so all the masses can find a good driving position. There's a clear view all around outside, to the instrument panel with proven dial-and-needle gauges, and the information display or navigation screen is inset under a shade at the same height as the gauges; glare is controlled and it can be viewed with polarized glasses.  ex-l models come with leather on the seats, steering wheel, manual shifter and door panels. The ex-l leather appears of high quality and assembly as does the rest of the car. The center armrest was designed to be big enough for two adults to share without awkward glances.  rear-seat passengers will have few complaints as few do in large cars. Seat cushions and backrest carry right out to the door without wheelwell intrusion, offer space for a six-footer to sit comfortably behind another one, and easy entry and egress. The center seat is better padded than many, and as such it loses a bit of headroom to the outer seats. There are no rear reading lamps.  three interior colors are offered on the sedans, black, gray, and ivory, while the coupe goes black or ivory only. Honda's graphics for the variable intermittent wipers are among the simplest: rather than bars, lines or dots of differing size, the accord uses one raindrop for long interval and three raindrops for more frequent wiping. The shifter is right at hand, and the proper handbrake has short travel.  controls for sound, climate, and navigation are central below the navigation screen and vents. One row of switches controls audio input (am, xm, cd, etc.) and another row has six audio presets. Voice activation can handle a multitude of chores without a hand ever leaving the steering wheel.  all accords except the lx sedan include active noise cancellation, but we were hard-pressed to notice the difference between lx and ex. 2007 honda civic review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. New civic si sedan joins winning lineup. introductionthe compact class remains one of the most competitive in the new car market, in number of entries as well as price. Honda in 2006 re-staked its claim to the head of the class with the introduction of a completely reworked and updated civic. And not just in the mainstream, family-car niche, but in the sporty subcompact arena, too, with the return of a hopped-up coupe, the si, the latest reincarnation of the late, lamented crx.  for 2007, everything pretty much remains the same, with one notable exception. Honda's engineers tweaked its suspension to compensate for the sedan's longer wheelbase. Front-seat passengers get the si coupe's sport seats. And both si editions come standard with an electronic stability program for added control in emergency maneuvers.  honda also continues offering a natural gas-powered sedan, the gx, which the company introduced during the 2006 model year. This reduces emissions dramatically, while improving fuel economy.  the 2007 honda civic is available in coupe and sedan versions. Other cars in the class may undercut the civic on pricing, but the civic includes important safety features, including side-impact airbags that others leave on the option list. lineupthe honda civic dx coupe 14,810) and dx sedan 15,010) are the base models. Standard equipment is confined to power windows, tilt-and-telescope steering wheel, height-adjustable driver's seat and fold-down rear seatback. The coupe gets a rear decklid spoiler. Brakes are disc in front, drum in rear. P195/65r15 tires wrap around steel wheels with full-cover hubcaps.  the lx coupe 16,760) and sedan 16,960) includes air conditioning; power mirrors; keyless remote and central locking; cruise control with steering wheel-mounted controls; a center console with sliding armrest; overhead map lights; a 160-watt, am/fm/cd stereo with mp3 and wma playback, an auxiliary input jack and speed-sensitive auto-volume control; front passenger seatback-mounted magazine pocket; and floor mats. The coupe has a rear seat walk-in feature that remembers the front passenger seat's setting. Tires grow to p205/55r16 on full-capped steel wheels.  the ex coupe 18,710) and sedan 18,710) add power moonroof; variable windshield wipers; a second 12-volt power outlet; a 60/40 split folding rear seatback; a seven-speaker, 350-watt, xm-ready, premium stereo with auxiliary input jack and steering wheel-mounted controls; and outside temperature indicator. The keyless remote adds a trunk release button. There are few options available, and honda positions its options packages and automatic transmissions as separate models, so for example, there are the civic coupe ex with voice-recognition navigation, xm satellite radio and automatic transmission 21,260) and the similarly equipped sedan version 21,260).  the si coupe 21,090) and the new-for-2007 sedan 21,290) come with all the gear found on the lx coupe and sedan plus leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, amber-tinted headlight trim rings and a body-colored rear wing spoiler. Standard tires are all-season, p215/45r17 on alloy wheels. New for 2007 and standard on both coupe and sedan is electronic vehicle stability assist system with traction control. Both also are available with high-performance, p215/45zr17 tires and the navigation system with xm satellite radio 23,040 and $23,240, respectively).  the hybrid sedan 22,600) adds to the lx's features automatic climate control, a roof-mounted radio antenna, a rear decklid spoiler and hybrid-pertinent digital data displays. The hybrid is available with the navigation system and xm satellite radio 24,350).  the gx 24,590) is essentially an lx sedan with the alternatively fueled engine.  dealers offer a wide range of honda-approved accessories (installation is extra in all instances). Among these are 16-inch alloy wheels 876), 17-inch alloy wheels 976), chrome exhaust finisher 125), fog lights 325), a full nose mask 155), a trunk tray 105), leather steering wheel cover 79) and a full menu of aero-style, exterior body add-ons for the sedan (e. G., side spoiler: $589; rear wing spoiler: $499).  rising to the challenge (read: profit potential) of the performance aftermarket, honda factory performance packages are offered for the two si models and for the lx and ex coupes and sedans. The si hfp packages include lowered springs, more tautly tuned shocks, a sports muffler, 18-inch alloy wheels, a full lower-body aero kit and the hfp emblem (coupe: $3754; sedan: est. $3800). The lx and ex hfp package for the coupe 3118) and sedan 3197) substitutes 17-inch alloy wheels, drops the muffler and adds a rear spoiler. (prices do not include installation, which is set by dealers, or tires, which are priced locally.). walkaroundhonda changed nothing on the outside of the civics for 2007. The sedans and coupes don't share any body panels. Trim elements and markings distinguish each iteration. Reinforced mounting points and gussets provide a platform to the sport compact aftermarket to make suspension and certain other modifications without diminishing body integrity.  from the front, a horizontal bar dominates the sedan grille; the si sedan gets a monochrome version of the coupe's grille, with the iconic 'si' badge at the far right end. Slender headlamp assemblies angle upwards as they curve around the fenders. A single, broad air intake fills the lower portion of the fascia.  the coupe grille sports the honda logo suspended in a two-tone frame. As with the si sedan, an understated badge tucked away in the far right reaches of the grille identifies the sporty si version. The coupe headlights are more sharply outlined. The lower air intake opens between two, geometric recesses that feed cooling air to the front disc brakes and house the optional fog lamps. The front ends, but especially the coupes', push the leading corners down and outward, emphasizing the wide track (the distance side to side between the tires).  save for a lower body character line, drawn slightly higher on the coupe than on the sedan, the sides of the new civic are more slab than sensuous. Understated fender blisters, more pronounced on the coupe, break up the otherwise featureless expanse. What excitement there is in the side view is in the sleekness of what honda calls a monoform design. A central expression of this is the windshield, the leading edge of which reaches into the hood all the way to the middle of the front wheel wells, pushing the design concept of cab forward to a new extreme. On the coupe, the windshield is raked at a radical 21. 9 degrees, the sedan's at a barely more upright 23. 9 degrees. The sail (the body panel aft of the rear side window) is unique to each model as well. The coupe's forms an acute angle emphasizing the two-door body style, while the sedan's curves down over the rear door's trailing edge, pulling the eye through the higher roofline. The coupe's be-spoilered, rounded rear profile suggests swiftness. The sedan's somewhat abbreviated trunk lid and chopped off tail end adds perceived mass to the tightly proportioned, smallish sedan. The si coupe wears an i-vtec label just forward of the rear wheel well, the si sedan the same on the lower rear side door.  likewise, the rear view of each body style differs markedly. The coupe's sloping trunk lid settles into a deep cut in the rear bumper, with the license plate sheltered in an equally deep recess. The sedan's trunk lid drops in an almost vertical, unrelieved sheer from a relatively high crest across the top. A blue, cng diamond identifies the gx model. interiorthe civic lx sedan remains the most comfortable civic we've driven. The dx edges more toward spartan inside, while the ex heads toward lush. Fit and finish meet honda standards. Plastic trim elements look high grade, although the multi-piece dash invites concern about high-mileage squeaks and buzzes.  seats are comfortable, not plush. The fabric upholstery feels durable and its robust nap assists the modest side and seat bottom bolsters in restraining occupants during spirited motoring. The si models get sport front seats with more aggressive bolsters both bottom and side for improved support. Seat bottoms provide better than average thigh support. The manual height adjustment on the driver's seat pivots on front hinges, forcing drivers to choose between seat height and legroom.  the view out the front, with the expansive windshield, low cowl and sloping hood, is unparalleled in the class. A commensurately low beltline would enhance side vision, but there's little about which to complain. Tiny front quarter windows on the sedan, necessary to allow the front door windows to roll all the way down, push the side view mirrors a bit too far rearward for qu.
